The problem we're solving

Capable teens are checking out.

Bright kids can do the work — and still feel like none of it connects to a real person or a real future. Scores show an outcome. They rarely show purpose, growth, or the full student.

“Why am I doing this?”

That question shows up over worksheets, revisions, drills, and lectures. Left unanswered, it turns capable teens into students who are just going through the motions.

Getting started

Knowing what to do next is half the battle. School often assumes kids already have that muscle.

Keeping track

Materials, deadlines, and steps pile up. Without systems, even smart students look “unmotivated.”

Following through

Starting is not finishing. Kids need practice finishing hard things — with a coach, not another reminder app.

The school model

School, rebuilt around the student.

We kept the parts of high school that change a life and rebuilt the rest — AI for academics, coaches for the human work, pathways into the real world, and time outside.

Focused, personalized academics

AI tutors deliver core academics one-on-one, adapting to each student's pace and gaps — including credit recovery and acceleration when they're ready.

Human skills, taught on purpose

Getting started, staying organized, communicating, and persisting — practiced with a live coach until students can run their own systems.

Mentorship + real-world pathways

Every student has a dedicated coach who knows them and holds a high bar — plus hands-on pathways into design, tech, trades, business, and internships.

Outdoor experiential learning

The Wasatch is our second campus. Weekly expeditions, service, and hands-on challenges build resilience, teamwork, and a body that's as engaged as the mind.

Human skills made visible

Everyday work becomes evidence of growth.

The math homework doesn't change. What changes is its relevance. Students see how real work becomes evidence of a skill — and how repeated evidence becomes growth they own.

Personal — Cyan

A strong desire to learn — and the systems to keep track of time, materials, and goals so that desire turns into finished work.

PassionSelf Management

Professional — Magenta

Abstract thinking, problem solving, and practical tasks — plus the habit of adding real value to a team and improving the culture around you.

Cognitively & Technically AbleMakes Positive Contributions

Interpersonal — Yellow

Meaningful connections that help both people grow — practiced in seminars, projects, and everyday collaboration.

Develops Healthy Relationships

Global — Black

Sending and receiving meaning clearly — and building the resilience to take meaningful risks, adapt, and persist.

Ratings are earned through demonstrated evidence over time — not awarded for completing an assignment. Coaches, AI academics, and real projects create the evidence. The credential makes the growth visible to the student and to parents.

Real-world pathways

A real direction — not just a diploma.

Pathways help turn “Why am I doing this?” into “I'm building something.” Hands-on work, internships, and credentials that connect learning to a future worth caring about.

Design & digital media

Graphic design, video, and creative tools — a natural fit for visual, creative thinkers.

Technology & making

Coding, robotics, and hands-on AI — building real things and learning to make AI a tool you command.

Skilled trades & business

Entrepreneurship, construction, and the trades — pathways to independence and real earning.

Internships & certifications

Work-based learning and industry credentials that mean something after graduation.

Taught by AI · coached by humans

The best of both — nothing lost between them.

The AI delivers the academics. That frees our coaches to do what only people can do: help students start the work, build systems, stay with hard things, and grow human skills on purpose.

The AI Tutor

Delivers the academics

Rigorous core instruction, on demand.

  • One-on-one instruction that never rushes or leaves a gap
  • Adapts in real time to how each student learns
  • Mastery-based — including credit recovery and acceleration
  • Frees the day for projects, people, pathways, and the outdoors
The Live Coach

Builds the human skills

In person — routines, plans, and follow-through.

  • Helps students start the work and break goals into steps
  • Builds systems for time, materials, and focus — not phone reminder stacks
  • Knows each student's goals, struggles, and what makes them tick
  • Leads human-skills practice until students can run their own systems
A day at CMYK

Own your day. Master the work.

There's no rigid bell schedule. Students build the day from three kinds of blocks and choose how to arrange them — lead with academics, start with an internship or rec, or come for the afternoon. What never flexes is mastery: the work gets done, and done well.

1

Deep-focus academics

Personalized, mastery-based coursework with an AI tutor and a coach close by — students move on only once they've truly got it.

2

Seminars & human skills

Live, coach-facilitated discussion, collaboration, and real projects — where teens practice communication, teamwork, planning, and follow-through.

3

Pathways, rec & the outdoors

Hands-on pathway projects, internships, recreation, weekly field days, and Wasatch expeditions — learning that moves into the real world.

Questions, answered

The things families ask first.

Why "CMYK"?

CMYK is the four inks — cyan, magenta, yellow, and black — that layer together to make every color you've ever seen. At CMYK High, those colors map to human skill families: Personal, Professional, Interpersonal, and Global. Students grow across all four, and the combination is what makes a full person — not a single track.

Who is CMYK High the right fit for?

Capable teens who've become bored, disengaged, or lost in a traditional classroom — especially kids who ask “Why am I doing this?” and who need help with the everyday skills school assumes but rarely teaches: getting started, keeping track of work and materials, managing time, and finishing what they start. It's also a fit for students recovering credits, ready to accelerate, or who simply learn differently.

What do you mean by human skills?

Human skills are the Personal, Professional, Interpersonal, and Global competencies that sit alongside academics — things like Self Management, Communication, Resilience, and contributing on a team. Coaches practice them with students in person through routines, plans, and real projects. We don't outsource that work to phone apps or reminder stacks.

Where is the school located?

CMYK High is based in Lehi, Utah, on the Wasatch Front — with the mountains, canyons, and rivers of northern Utah serving as our outdoor campus for weekly field days and expeditions.

What are pathways?

Pathways connect academics to real direction — design and digital media, technology and making, skilled trades and business — through hands-on projects, internships, and industry credentials. They help students answer “Why am I doing this?” with work that leads somewhere.

Will students learn to use AI themselves — not just learn from it?

Yes. There's a real difference between learning from AI and learning to use it, and we teach both. Alongside their AI tutor, students get hands-on practice using AI as a tool and thinking partner — how to prompt it well, pressure-test what it gives back, and apply it to writing, research, design, coding, and problem-solving.

Do the skill credentials replace grades or a transcript?

No. Transcripts still serve their purpose. Alongside them, students turn everyday coursework and projects into evidence of growth in human skills a GPA was never designed to show. Ratings like Emerging, Developed, and Solidified are earned through demonstrated evidence over time. Students own the credential; the system authenticates it. The credentials supplement the transcript — they don't replace it.

How big are the cohorts?

Small by design. We keep cohorts intentionally limited so every student is truly known by their coach. Our founding class is especially small — one reason to join the waitlist early.

What about accreditation, tuition, and a diploma?

We're finalizing these details as we prepare to open, and accreditation and a recognized path to graduation are core priorities. Waitlist families will be the first to receive full information on tuition, the academic pathway, and enrollment.
